The Cosmos mainnet has been successfully launched today, and HashQuark is fairly proud to announce it has now been a Genesis validator of Cosmos and will be validating the Genesis block. This also officially heralds HashQuark’s mining services for Atom holders.

Cosmos is a network of many independent blockchains, called zones. The zones are powered by Tendermint Core, which provides a high-performance, consistent, secure PBFT-like consensus engine, where strict fork-accountability guarantees hold over the behaviour of malicious actors.

HashQuark, member of HashKey Group, remained deeply involved in Cosmos development ever since its early phase, and is thereby deemed as one of Cosmos’ early supporters.

Ever since the earliest phase of Cosmos development, HashQuark formed a research team dedicated to the studying of Cosmos and remained deeply in touch with Cosmos development team, during which its team members tested almost every version of Cosmos testnets (i.e. Game of Stake) and discovered several critical bugs and pull requests.

Additionally, HashQuark has long been endeavoring to help increase the impact and visibility of Cosmos both inside and outside China. Here in China, HashQuark and Cosmos jointly hosted a number of blockchain-related events nationwide, including Hackathon and blockchain summit, seen as a critical attempt to increase global awareness of blockchain technology among college students and technology groups. Plus, they both stepped up efforts to create a Cosmos presence around the globe through several activities hosted in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, the US.

On top of that, HashQuark helped with the translation and promotion of Tendermint: Byzantine Fault Tolerance in the Age of Blockchains, seen as a continued attempt to help build a more enabling Cosmos ecosystem inside China.

Also, HashQuark will get more deeply involved in the development of Cosmos for years to come. Also, it will offer mining services for Atom holders and launch multiple rewards campaigns to reward users from around the world.

Earlier this month, HashQuark also announced to have become one of a Genesis validators of IRISnet, an inter-chain service blockchain hub developed by Bianjie. This heralded a joint effort in building a more enabling Cosmos ecosystem. And apart from Cosmos and IRISnet, HashQuark has already joined multiple public blockchains as one of their supernodes, including Cybex, V SYSTEMS and CyberMiles.

Cosmos

Cosmos is a decentralized network of independent parallel blockchains, each powered by BFT consensus algorithms like Tendermint consensus.

In other words, Cosmos is an ecosystem of blockchains that can scale and interoperate with each other. Before Cosmos, blockchains were siloed and unable to communicate with each other. They were hard to build and could only handle a small amount of transactions per second. Cosmos solves these problems with a new technical vision. In order to understand this vision we need to go back to the fundamentals of blockchain technology.
